As a Certified Matrimonial Attorney, Tanya Helfand handles all areas of family law including, but not limited to, custody, alimony, child support, complex financial cases, prenuptial agreements, and domestic violence matters. Ms. Helfand is a qualified mediator and certified collaborative divorce lawyer. She also handles guardianships and consumer and small business bankruptcies, Chapter 7 & 13.
Ms. Pivawer has more than 25 years of legal experience. Prior to joining Helfand & Associates in 1999, Ms. Pivawer served as an Assistant Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Newark, and Assistant Corporation Counsel, Litigation Division for the City of Newark. She also worked for a plaintiffs’ personal injury and workers compensation firm, Friedman & Friedman, for three years. Before beginning her legal career, Ms. Pivawer was a Housing Manager for the New York City Housing Authority.
Mr. Osofsky has been actively engaged in the practice of law since his discharge from the Army and his completion with a Judicial Clerkship in the Superior Court. That clerkship was in the Family/Matrimonial Court. Over the past 50 years, he has practiced both as an individual and a member of several law firms. Over the past approximately 50 years, he has practiced almost exclusively in the Family Law area with special emphasis on divorce and custody. While he has successfully participated in many difficult and complex trials, his background in mediation and arbitration will also allow him to participate in alternative conflict resolutions.
David Mateen, Esq. is an attorney with Helfand & Associates. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Mateen received his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science, in Business Administration-Management from Ramapo College of New Jersey, magna cum laude, in 3.5 years. Mr. Mateen received his Juris Doctor from New York Law School. He was a graduate of New York Law School’s Two-Year Honors Program. During law school, he was an active member of the Mediation Clinic and Student Bar Association.
